It is not known as a guard dog but you should slowly introduce the puppy to strangers to avoid any mishaps. It might take a few visits for the puppy to get used to the stranger but once it does there will not be any further problems.

This type of dog has a responsibility to care for family members, so when it hears a noise it will respond with excessive barking. You will have to gently but firmly reassure the dog that no harm is being done and to quiet down. You will have to be consistent with your requests because you will have complaining neighbors otherwise.
The fur on this puppy is soft and long but in order to keep it that way, you will have to brush out the fur on a weekly basis. It will also have to be trimmed every month. If you do not do these things, the fur will become matted and this is painful for the dog. It can help to shampoo and condition the fur every few months so keep it soft and smooth and snip off any matted areas immediately. Snip any hair off that droops into the pup’s eyes.
Before you purchase your puppy, you should know that this breed of dog is at high risk for a few medical conditions. Hip dysphasia can occur with this breed and this usually happens with elderly dogs. Severe pain is felt in the hip region and eventually it will become so bad that the dog will be unable to go to the bathroom or eat. These dogs also have problems with allergies and skin problems because of their longer hair. They have been known to have autoimmune problems, colon disease and epilepsy.
